I asked this questions a long time ago and was told very aptly that my wireless internet was causing these random occurrences of artifacts I guess they're called. I shut off my cell phone, wireless internet, and every piece of electronics that has blue tooth. and it worked.. until now. They're back, the only thing I know that's changed is my graphics which lead to some sound problems at first. Apparently the HDMI had overRODE my on board sound card and blah blah blabity blah. after a while I managed to get it working so YAY I could play games. But then I wanted to record, and everything started crashing, I've been at war with my drivers ever since and finally was able to start recording again after I completely uninstalled my Graphics drivers. But now I have this problem with the artifacts, and I'm wondering if they are related considering the card is still in my computer.
I plan on wiping my computer again, that always seems to do the trick when it comes to technical issues. However I would like to know if there are any additional causes for these artifacts that I've overlooked. Thanks

It's fine to turn off or unplug network items but the crucial portion is turning them off in the computer itself. Go into the Device Manager and right click then select disable. Also, make sure you physically unplug unused USB items. Record to a second drive on it's own cable. Do not daisy chain hard drives. Finally (for now) go into the control panel for your sound interface and increase the buffer samples.

I managed to get everything working again after I wiped my comp and installed two seperate copies of xp on two seperate partitions. One has the video drivers installed the other does not. I think those clicks were coming from the active use of that card. I can't be sure but they're gone now. :D
@ TheJackAttack: I'll look into what you mentioned. I'm pretty sure everything I'm not using is disabled and or unplugged...and daisy chain HDs? like partitions? I'm going to pick up a second internal HD at some point soon anyways.(broke at the moment) I'm guessing that buffer samples have to do with the capacity of the waveform being created. This is your problem. You either play games or you record. You either get a qualified recording interface or you use an on board sound card to do yourgame arcade.
I appreciate John Dutton, he knows his stuff. But what he said versus what you are using are two different things.

Yes it does...but it NEVER addresses what is the root cause. And the root cause is an on board sound card, gaming and whatever else this box is doing.
It's like the good book says about serving two Masters. It cannot be done :)
So you must choose one or the other.
