Bryston 4B power amplifier (anything Bryston)

Cello amplifiers

Mark Levinson amplifiers

B&W 801E speakers

Duntech speakers

Dunlavy Speakers (out of business but there are still some around)

Carver Sunfire Amplifier

Quad Speakers (have to be driven with a good amp)

PMC Speakers

Genelec speakers and subwoofer(s) (self powered)

What kind of music are you doing?

What is your budget?

How big is your room?

Best thing to do is to arrange to listen to the speakers you finally chose in your room BEFORE buying them. Speakers like microphones and phono cartridges are very personal preference based. Also there can be a lot of problems with the speaker/power amplifer/cable interface so I would listen to the speaker thought the power amp you have chosen in the room you are going to be listening in with the best cables you can afford.

Best D to A converter for the front end Benchmark DAC-1

Well, this whole cable thing is bunk, but I still like some of the gear on your list. I especially agree about the Brystons! I use them in my own designs. :D

I use to think it was BUNK too but my ears have been opened. I was using plain old 16 ga speaker wire in a triwire mode to my Alons. Then I tried some Monster Cable that was about 10 dollars a foot. Not to much improvement. Now I am using some small guage (10 ga for the woofer and 12 ga for the mids and tweets) welding cable with very fine conductors and my system sounds GREAT with the Bryston 4B. Not sure exactly why but it does make a good sounding combination.

I am not a big fan of a lot of hi fi tweaks but in this case it worked well. -FWIW-
