As a PCM & PQ editor, I could never argue with Sound Forge / CD Architect.

I was never wild about the plugs & built-in effects (Not that I'm wild about many plugs at all), but it's certainly a solid piece of software.

Agree with John. Very fast and effective editor. Great ease of use, (simple learning curve)

Along with Waves, you have a great starter platform but the overall limitations become apparent once you have used higher power software such as sequoia/samplitude.

I use SF for most of my trimming, fades and edits in the digital domain but I go analog for mastering...then back to magix.

Just purchased sound forge 8 yesterday and I've found quite a few annoying visual bugs and it has crashed on me a few times using just the standard sound forge pitch shifting dx plugin. : (up to date with 8.0b)

I've reported some of the issues in the official sf8 forum so all I can do is wait.

Sorry to hijack the thread but I was looking for the Sound Forge 8 forum and I couldn't find anything. Do you have the URL?

I just startd using SF8 for mastering and I have a few starter issues. When using the effects chain I can play through the chain but I can not get statistics wihtout applying the chain restructively. Is this just how it works?

I don't like the idea that I have to apply the chain before checking the statistics. If I save the file after applying the effects chain how can I go back later and adjust something?

Maybe I just don't get it, but isn't it better not to move/render/covert, your tracks back and forth.

I have always used Cakewalk as my main DAW. dont get me wrong as I have used 4 or 5 others out there (mostly demos),
except Pro Tools and that's just because of the cost.

I now use Sonar-6 and as all the other CW programs, I can do all my cutting and splicing and stretching and vst work and anything that I want, right there on my track.

after I mix down to a wave I Master with t-racks.

I guess everyone has there own method, but I would be curious in what others think.
