Three people have contacted me. Two of them moderators, and one not. All of them to limit free speech, I would understand if the things in question were in your "No Rules" section.

If you people want a perfect world, then why don't you tell us that when we sign up?

Evidently this website is not to help musicians. It is to not say if something works or does not. It is not to give them correct equipment reviews (cause they sure don't get a variety here yet).

I had a post yanked by Kurt, saying he wanted to "correct" my work that I am doing for another website, because I made mention of it here. What a crock! I onlt mentioned it to help the guys that may not ever hear REAL mics like DPA's, up against the others.

This site does not belong to me, and you can pull what you want, but I think that you are performing sensorship which is a shame.

Some of us may have experience with plenty of "real" mics without your input. Just FYI.

Also using phrases such as that ( "real mics" ) makes it seem like hype, not just opinion.
I feel strongly about some things too, but i wouldn't call my choices "REAL" choices while putting yours down.

I've felt free here, so far to post my feelings including saying when i DON'T like a piece of gear.
So far no one has censored me.
But, then, i'm not selling anything either.

and as far as this being "America".. Ashcroft and his current evil minions firmly believe there's nothing more American than selective censorship.

For the record.. I did not yank Brent’s post. No one at RO is allowed to delete posts other than the system administrator. Brent was invited to participate in the review process but he doesn't seem to want to follow the guidelines. That makes it impossible for RO to have anything to do with it. I still extend Brent that opportunity. It is also obvious that a little editing (for spelling and English) wouldn't hurt Brent’s communications. RO is a site to help musicians and recordists but we are not here to assist people in their business ventures at no charge. It costs money to install new and faster servers and to do the other things that need to be done to "keep the lights on" here at RO. Brent has never contributed a single dime to RO or for that matter even bought a coffee cup or hat. Judging from Brent’s signature line it is plain to see where his interests lie. If Brent wants to run an independent comparison in competition with what RO does, on another site, I invite him to purchase a banner ad here. We would be happy to do that for him.

To answer this statement,

”Evidently this website is not to help musicians. It is to not say if something works or does not. It is not to give them correct equipment reviews (cause they sure don't get a variety here yet).”

I would like to say this; I have recently come under the gun because I have not made any negative comments regarding the equipment I have reviewed. This is because I don’t request review pieces of gear I know are substandard, or that I don’t think I will like. I ask for pieces that I want to play with and use. I am not interested in spending time with cheeso gear. I have been fortunate so far, that all the gear I have received has lived up to my expectations. But let me say that even if I do get a piece that sucks, you won’t hear about it from me. I don’t play that way. I am not interested in climbing into the muck and mire. I would contact the OEM and mention the issues I had and if they didn’t address them to my satisfaction, I would return the piece and not do a review of the product. No good? No review! It seems however, some people are only interested in a train wreck. “Gimmie th’ dirt”. Those people won’t last long in the review game. Kurt Foster / Review Editor

Woah! Kurt you have this backwards.

Nobody can invite me to do what I have done and will continue to do for my own company, or for another website. That is the case here. I am not offering to post a review here. and even if I did, so what? People give reviews by expressing their opinions all day long. So, for Kurt to have 100% say in what is said about gear here is really stupid, in my mind.

I merely posted that I was doing a review of various mics, and that people would be able to find that review on another website. There was no spam, there was no mailing, there was no phone calling.

The reference to "real" mics is this. DPA's and others that I did not mention, are purist mics. They will be the ruler to judge budget purist mics by. The Neumann's and the new Telefunken will be the ruler for the colored budget mics. There was no slam intended. Face the facts. If you walk into Ocean Way, The Hit Factory, or any other world class room, there will be few budget mics that the common man can buy at Guitar Center.

The purpose of the review is for people to see the diversity of the mics in a few chosen applications that are common to recording or producing music in a church-type production. The viewer can the evaluate if the difference is really worth thousands of dollars.

Kurt PM's me and says "all reviews must go through me (more or less)." My point is, I am not posting the review here. I am posting somewhere else, in a non-competing website that is geared toward the volunteer church tech staff. My second point is that, since I am not conducting the review, on behalf of RO, I have no obligation to provide Kurt with anything!

I understand the point about not wanting to advertising another website, when RO doesn't benefit from it monetarilly, etc. But, there are many times that Ethan, Bill and other members have posted links to other sites. So I didn't see any harm in offering a place to go, to read reviews, or listen to samples of recordings, etc.

That is my point. Geez, I only did it so that these poor guys that are on here constantly asking remedial questions could hear some educating, instead of listening to opinions. The beginners could make better choices, and grow a bit, thus elevating the topics to something beyond what they are now.

Well, Kurt, I may type with a lisp at times, but so do you my friend.

My interests do not lie in materialism. If you can't appreciate dry humor, then that is your problem.

I am not out for self gain. As a matter of fact, I donate A LOT of time to doing church and ministry productions. I only charge dealer cost on my installations to churches. I do what I can to help out with product donations. That is the reason that I review gear, so that I can stand before God Almighty and say that I gave the truth, and the church got what was the best for their money.

You do not know me. You do not know what I am about. So watch you mouth.

Brent,
I wish you good luck in your project. You have been invited to run this test under guidelines set out by RO and have declined the offer. Anyone who is interested in Brent’s project is free to PM Brent through the PM system here at RO and he can then forward the addy for his mic comparison. RO does not, or will not permit links to competing sites that are doing the same kinds of projects that are underway here. This is a long standing policy. Anyone trying to post links to such things is SPAMING. I don't want this to turn into a "flame fest" so I would like to leave it at that. Kurt

John 8:7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

Quote from Kurt:
...So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

First of all...that is a nice verse. Maybe you should have considered it, before you slammed my typing. You threw the first stone, then screwed up yourself.

Second. That verse is not being used in it's proper context. The context is not "sin" in and of itself. It was the fact that the men there to stone her were participants with her in sin, or have committed the same sin. They were not the ones who should be condemning. Given that, we really should never be critical or condemn people that we have, or have not met, if we are guilty of the same sin ourself. That is powerful stuff.

Most people don't know true forgiveness, because they don't truely know that they have truely sinned themselves.

"Evidently this website is not to help musicians. It is to not say if something works or does not. It is not to give them correct equipment reviews (cause they sure don't get a variety here yet). "

I am sure this is open to interpretation, but IMO this was the "first stone". And it wasn't just a typo .. BTW censorship is spelled with a "C". Kurt
