Has anyone upgraded their systems to a board or OS that supports 64bit processors such as the Pentium D and had any problems or luck with Nuendo or Cubase SX, Reason, and effects/vst plugins, etc.? We're considering upgrading our system. Right now, we have a Pentium 4 2.4ghz processor which when the ONYX 1220 mixer is turned on takes about 50% in resources (and no there are no other tasks). The system has even been treated graphically so there are no other unneccesary memory usages. I want the system effecient enough to run a great deal of both VST instruments and VST plugins at the same time. Would this be a good upgrade (Pentum D 3.0 GHZ)

Whoa! If simply plugging in your Mackie Firewire mixer makes your CPU useage spike to 50%, then something is terribly wrong!!! That system should eaisly handle 24 tracks with a moderate amount of plugs IMO (or more tracks with less plugs).

I don't know where to start (I use PCI Audio Interfcaes), but something is certainly amiss there...

Ack

Ohh My mistake,
No it's below. It shoots up when I start applying plugins to the tracks or VST instruments especially on WAVES plugins omg. If I can comfortably get 24 tracks working with a preaty decent amount of plugins and about 5 VST instrumnets (Symphonic Orchestra, Stylus, Trilogy, ect) without having to redump everything a few times and keep from clipping, I'll be str8. So what do you think? Will there be any problems?
