Hey,
This question will apply to both the drum and keyboard geeks out there in R.O. Land! I think the full on 80's sounding toms that are tuned and played in the theme song are great. (for those of us who lust for 80's sounds) Does anyone know if they are from an 80's electronic drum kit alone or if there was a sound module with drum timbres used? In any case, I want some! Any recomendations on bad 80's electronic drum sound sources?
Regards,

I can't say for sure that Jan Hammer used a Tom, but the Tom was (is) a pretty hip unit with some great, but dated sounds. He had access to some pretty hip recording/mixing/effects and if it is the TOM then some great recording took place. I still use mine on occasion. It's like a mini Linn machine. Tuneable on all 8 pads and a cartridge for 8 more. Sequences and Songs can be easily programmed but the thing ( at least mine) has a very tempermental power supply that likes to occasssionaly quit without warning. Usually after you've been programming for a long time. I found out the hard way during a senior recital 20 years ago! LOL. I've been dumping some grooves into PT where it's alot safer to play.

Hello there.I think Jan Hammer used a Sequencial Circuts drum machine called the "Tom".An old analog box that could detune drums and reverse them with ease! Peace,Barefoot
