Greetings! I've spent a couple years working with drum kits, but I have a small hand drum made from a gourd that I'd like to include in a couple segues on my band's CD. I can make some guesses, but I figured I'd see if you guys had any advice. My available mics at this point are a pair of C1000s and SM58s and 57s... I've been renting vocal mics, but I don't know if I need/want to rent one for this little thing. I'd rather spend more time playing with it with the mics I have.
Thanks!
Kase
Although most folks hate these mics, I've used C1000's and C3000
Although most folks hate these mics, I've used C1000's and C3000's on hand drums and ethnic percussion including udu's and clay pots with good results. Depending on what you're going for, the "edgy-ness" of these mics can be either help or hinder. I would experiment with what you have and see if you like the results. The 57 may be perfect. ;-)
