mixing drums!

Hey, I was wondering...if I have only 3 mics for my recording for the drums...where should I put them, kick, overhead and one snare?

And to make the sound more alive should I use reverb? or what should I do?

I have problems to get my guitars fat also...sounds like I play in a tube..any suggestions?

I use Emagic Logic platinum for my recordings and mixing.

Thanks for your answers!

Hi AzzXaA,

Microphones; you will need a few different microphones to experiment with. Maybe a couple different condenser mic's, cardioid mic's with different patterns, etc.

The guitar, what kind of guitar and amp or processor are you using? Are you effecting the signal with a FX processor?

Experiment with everything, that's how things are discovered. Try setting up mics in different places and recording, then listen to the takes. I would be curious to see what you come up with. :c: Every room, drum set, microphone, etc. is different.

Good Luck!
