I've just acquired an Akai GX-270DSS 4-track reel-to-reel recorder, and although I'm not new to recording, I am very new to analog recording. Is this a good machine to record my music onto for "that" sound once I've recorded and mixed in Pro Tools and pre-mastered using Wavelab's Mastering Edition? This thing weighs like 40 lbs. and it would be a shame if I had to put it back into my basket on my bicycle and cart it back to the guy with the mullet that gave me the potential paper weight.
