Stick with Pro Tools ! It'll do most audio tasks, except burn the discs. I use PT 6.7 in OS-X and re-boot to burn masters with WaveBurnerPro in OS9. I really like the sound of the POW-R dither implementation in WBP 2.2.1.
I'm a 20 year "DieHard" user of Apple Mac and I'm not switching. or to put it bluntly:
"You can have my Mac when you pry my cold dead fingers off my trackball ! "
I've got Peak 4, which I never use, because it seems counter intuitive. Maybe version 5 will be more pro and easy to use.
A lot of home studio folks use Roxio Jam, which works, but I need more dithering options. I read that Sonic Studio has bought Roxio, maybe they'll write a Pro version for us "power" users!
Cheers

hmm... tried that, what kind of crackers are you serving it?
Maybe I should give it a bath more often?
...Lately only one diode is lit on the keyboard, it used to be 3... should I hire a psychologist or feed it funtex?

Cool!!
I wish I had the same relationship with my PC DAW.
noone ever will...... what's to love???
I love my PC... Heck I have 2 DAWs plus 2 others here (and a Mac as well). Of course my DAWs are both custom built turnkey Sequoia systems, so that I why I love them.

Good news for all you Mac heads. I checked out the SonicBlade CD mastering software. Looks great. Estimated street date is 3 months. But I can say I did in fact see it with my own eyes and it looked to be working. They are going to release 2 versions. $1400 for the full blown and $750 for the stripped down. The difference is VST processing and the DSP audio interface. Both will work with core audio but the stereo I/O has some heafty processing power as well as analog and digital routing. This price does not include the I/O. I think the I/O is $3200. It's a modified Mobile I/O.
The software looks sweet. It's got the Sonic GUI. They are also going to offer renovator. Anyway, looks like Macs are still alive.

That's really good news for all us Mac heads (I like the way you phrased that) Mike.
Is the I/O you are referring to the modified Metric Halo 302 that's pictured on sonicstudio.com?
Best Regards from a fellow Mac die-hard !

SonicHD????? best out there on a mac. other than that, there is spark (not supported anymore), Waveburner (has some problems in OSX), logic audio (need a few months to learn it), protools (you have that), DSP quattro (like spark), Jam (a joke, but getting better), Peak (I don't get it, but that's me). Other than that, I can't think of anything else. Macs are loosing the battle. I'm thinking of bailing and going to PC.
