Here's a situation that just came up: Parts support for a older piece of gear.
I have a PS Audio Lamda CD Transport that I have been using for some time. It has ceased to function & I am told by the tech guys that it requires a Phillips CD-9-PRO laser assembly to be repaired.
These parts are now out of production & I am told are unubtainable anywhere in the world.
Does anyone out there have any information that might help me find this part?
I know nothing lasts forever, but it saddens me & lightens my wallet to know that it cannot be fixed (for want of a relatively cheap part).
The company has been reorganized & is decidedly unhelpful. A common situation, I'm sure.
We could expand this pathetic cry for help to a larger topic of "support for existing gear". Have you run into a similar situation? How was it resolved?

Audio is a real second class citizen when it comes to technology and an awful lot of parts used for building high quality audio gear are on the verge of extinction. I'm afraid to say that you've only run into the tip of an iceberg as the parts used for audio gear have less and less in common with the parts used in mass-market electronic products.
