I have a couple of the Z-Sys Digital Detangler AES routers at the studio and they work very well. Still if you were in the market for a digital patch bay you might want to look at the Little Labs box - http://www.littlelabs.com/digirr.html - as the interface seems to be a lot more streamlined to me.
I haven't used their other products but it seems their 6 channel digital compressor has become a common piece of equipment for a lot of surround studios.
fwiw -
I've seen a lot of reviews of their inexpensive 2 channel Z-Qualizer which like the sound but really hate the interface.
If you weren't talking about Z-Sys please forward a link to Z-Stereo.
