Drum Mics/Preamps

So what are you guys using as drum mics and pres?

Thinking about another dual pre for my Kick and Snare.

I a/b my pres with the kit and liked the Buzz and UA on everything. Although only have one spare UA channel and use the Buzz for Overheads.

Here goes mine.

  • Kick, D112, TL Audio
  • Snare, At23e, UA 2610
  • Sn2, 441, Control24 (This can be bottom or side)
  • Tom1&2, KM85, Neve
  • Floor, Sen603, Tl Audio
  • Hats, KM85. Control24
  • OH, M160, Buzz Dual
  • Room, At4033, Tl Audio

The TL sounded better than the Control24 and Neve on the kick and snare.

Soundelux U-95S (ride side of the kit), U-99 (hat side of the kit) into a Drawmer 1969



If I'm not using an 'overhead pair'...I have tried:



Soundelux ELUX 251 top, ELUX 251 on the side of the kit, into a Crane Song LTD. "Flamingo"



Snare: Shure SM-57 into the console



They've all seemed to work out pretty well...often it takes a good bit of changing things around to find the best combinations.
