Greetings! I am a professional conductor who wants to get decent recordings of the orchestras I conduct when travelling. I had an Audio-Technica AT822 and a Sony DAT walkman, which did pretty well. I have replaced the SONY with a Korg MR1 and the microphone, unfortunately, was lost during travels.
Are there suggestions out there for a good microphone that will not break the bank, be good for travel and location recording, and work with the Korg (i.e. 1/8 inch output, battery power, etc...)
THANK YOU for your help!
Jeff

akg c1000s jumps to mind... 9v battery-powered condensor. it's "made" for recording large groups -- choirs, orchestras, etc.
unfortunately a lot of people feel that the c1000 has a "harsh" high end sound. i agree with the masses, but the fact that it's battery-powered is enough to make keep and use mine regularly.
GREAT for a bootlegger's mic. (y)

Thanks a lot for the reply! My only concern is that two of these, with the appropriate adapters (the Korg MR1 has 3.5mm TRS left and right inputs) could be tricky to travel with... Are there more suggestions??

Forget the worst mic AKG make! Rode NT4 Stereo mic ( phantom or battery powered ) might be good one for you now that you have a decent recorder capable of good quality recordings. I would use even better
mic(s) with separate preamps though ;-)
