I recently borrowed a B&K 4007 for acoustic measurement of my room. I discovered that it had the odd problem of randomly cutting the volume by about 4 dB. The cut would last for a second or two, then the volume would return to normal. Any ideas on what could cause this?
condensation ...??? a loose capsule ??? or the amp needs rep

or
the amp needs repair, perhaps a capacitor.
With a mic of that quality, I would send it to the manufacturer for an authorized repair ... I would not let anyone else touch it.
