Anybody record with 2 mic's on anything? You know like try'n to get a good "boom" sound with one, and a "cutting through" the mix sound with the other. On anything?

Nice, I really like the idea about the kick drum. I have heard the suggestion but couldn't picture the setup in my head correctly. Now i see .
I have an Audix D6. Do you or anyone else have a suggestion for the second mic.
I see the D112 are popular, also the ATM25

My new fav is the Sennheiser e602.
I used one for the first time on an album (yeah I still call them "albums") last month and was really impressed with the tone.
To my ears it has a much less hyped tone than the D-112.
It was rounder and bigger with not the scooped out midrange like the d112.
For the technique I was referring to, I would suggest a large-diaphragm condenser.
Hope this helps.
