Quick question on the Sm 57. I read and hear its good for recording instruments/amps.
I was checking ebay and I saw on one of the boxes of of the sm 57..and it say "SM57-LC". I couldn't find any infomation it. So is there really 2 models of the sm57, or Im I just crazy.
Also, does anyone have any sugestions for a condensor mic under the 200$ price limit.
Thanks for any advice

Seriously.
BEWARE of SM57s sold on eBay, many are Chinese knock-offs.
Spend the $70.0 at your local Guitar Center, or call Musician's Friend, and ask them for a better price.

I have a Rode NT1-A...
When I was looking for a condensor mic I saw a couple of reviews from different sources that all praised the Rode NT1-A as being a great mic for about $200...
So I got it and like it, although I really havn't had many mics to compare it to. It definately beats the hell out of the Shure Sm58 for recording... at least with the setup I have... but how it sounds compared to a Neumann u87 (which it often compared to... I have heard it called a "poor man's Neumann" from a couple of different places) I have no idea.

Seriously, trust me when I say DO NOT purchase mics on eBay unless they are from an authorized dealer. If their auction says they are an authorized dealer...call the manufacturer to find out before placing a bid.

I bought a pair of 414s on e-bay, allegedly new with guarantee. How can I check if the mics are legit?

Give AKG a call and find out if the person who sold them is an authorized dealer. Then ask if there is any info they can give you to prove authenticity. That is about all you can do.
