it does just have a standard xlr on it, is there anyway opening it up might help me figure it out

I guess you could try that screw I see towards the connector-end of the barrell. You may find that it screws out by turning it CLOCKWISE (some do that, some don't) if it doesn't come out the traditional way. Anyway, that will retain the XLR connector and if you can pull that connector out from the mic, you might be able to learn something by looking up inside it.
Doesn't look like the "head" of the mic unscrews, either. You know the more that I look at that puppy, I doubt it's an E-V because of the machining at the end of the barrell, so now I'm stumped, too! Be careful when you pull the thing apart, though, because the internal wiring and transformer could be very fragile from age. There are lots of old no-name mics out there that make great snare and/or guitar amp mics due to their "gonk-tone" factor. Keep it working!
I wanna say Beyerdynmic, but I could be wrong.
