hello all.
Im looking in to getting a C414 as I've had some experience w/ them and love them for drum overheads, vox, guitars, etc.
What is the difference in/between all the different models of the C414? I can't seem to figure it out. I have seen
*B-ULS
*B-TLII
*BXLII
*B-XLS
Can anyone please fill me in so i can make an informed decision on this purchase?
Also, what do you think about choosing this mic as a "studio workhorse" for multiple uses/situations. I am on a somewhat limited budget and want to get a nice mic that is not a one trick poney...I hope this is the one. If you think its not, can you offer me some alternatives?
Thanks everyone!
*B-ULS - Yer basic C414 *B-TLII - Same as the B-ULS, but t
*B-ULS - Yer basic C414
*B-TLII - Same as the B-ULS, but transformerless
*BXLII - Newer version of the TLII - added a fifth polar pattern (wide cardioid), it's supposed to be more quite, and it has a really kewl looking LED
*B-XLS - Newer version of the ULS - added a fifth polar pattern, etc, etc
Of what's listed, i haven't used the newer versions, just the ULS and TLII's. I prefer the TLII's, but YMMV... The ULS would probably be good as room mikes.
For drum oveheads, i prefer a SDC over an LDC, but if it sounds good, it is good. :)
Opinions vary, trust your own ears...
