I Have The Waves Diamond Bundle and I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions for good hip hop settings on the following Plugins ( For Hip Hop and R&B Vocals) The Plugins are the Rcomp and R Comp Mono, The De-esser and The Doubler and Doubler Mono. I'm Trying To Get a Clean sounding Fat vocal That I Can Build a Mix around and/or Keep it from sounding overprocessed. Thanks for any ideas and suggestions you may have. By The Way I want to keep the tracks from sounding super amatuer too.

Instead of using the doubler, try recording the same vocal take
Instead of using the doubler, try recording the same vocal take twice and panning each track slightly to either side. This will give you a fat sounding vocal and will cover up some tonal/ rhythmic errors

Hey empri330 long time no type,
For bigger vocal sounds with a compressor-
-1 IDEA-
1) Make a copy of your track
2) On the copy apply your compressor of choice-
3) On the compressed track set the compressor:
-Ratio 4:1
-Threshold so that you get 10-12dB of reduction
-Attack- start quick and work you way to the middle if you want more bite.
-Release set to about 1/2 way
4) Bring in the compressed vocal in underneath the original vocal (I.e. Parallel compression).
The compressed track by itself should sound squished. The idea is too mix it in with the original to make the original more in your face without losing the clarity.
For bigger vocal sounds with a compressor- Do as stated above,
Do as stated above, but add 5 to 6 dB of 5K to 8K on the compressed track.
Thts the "Motown" way!!!
But dont bring the compressed track up too high.
