Avalon 2022 vs. . Langevin DVC

Hello.

I have up to $3,000 to spend for an all-around mic preamp. I was thinking the Avalon 2022 or the Langevin DVC.

Am I on the right track?

I record mainly acoustic instruments and rock music.

Either one would serve you well. The DVC has some eq and the optical compressor so it would have more use because it is more flexable in my world.

Ya, I'd say so. It is different sounding and the Avalon could be percieved as being crisper with mabe a bit more detail. At this level of quality sonics it is more objective to the user than it is one clearly being better than the other.

Then I'll go with the DVC. I could sure use the extra features and I'm guessing that my novice ears will be dazzled by the DVC has to offer. And I save a $1000 for more toys!
