Has anyone done this? We are starting an album project in a couple of weeks. Will be tracking on a Alesis HR24 but we would like to mix in the box on Cubase VST 5.0 The computer has a swappable IDE drive. Anyone have any solutions for this ? Thanks, Fats

Well, I'm sure the drive in the Alesis is FAT32 so you'll need to have the Alesis machine convert it to something like what the Tascam MX2424 does. I forget the term they use..something about tape something something!
Basically it takes all the files and makes them contigous tracks. Once that is done you can then import the files into the Cubase pool and then insert them into the tracks so that they all line up
Should be pretty easy

Hey Kurt,

While I do not own an HD24 I have bee researching the standalone recorders in anticipation of buying one.

From what I can tell, if you want to transfer files from an HD24 to the PC you either do it via FTP or using the Alesis Fireport.

The fireport is a little device that plugs into the back of an HD24 drive and into your PC using a firewire cable. You then use Alesis software on your PC to pull files from the drive. I imagine this sounds worse than it really is. Sometimes I do not explain myself correctly :-|

There is a Yahoo group dedicated to the HD24 where you will find a lot of answers. You'll have to request access to it though but that is a simple process: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/hd24

The manual for the Fireport can be found here: http://www.alesis.com/downloads/manuals/ADAT-HD24_FirePort1394_Manual.pdf

Peace,
Brad
