This is one of those, "I heard somewhere that..."

In my case, the guy was talking about plugins, specifically compressors, and he said that digital plugins give better results if one is feeding through material of a higher bit depth. Anybody know if this is true?

There are lots of posts asking, "should I record at 16bit, 24bit, etc.," but I've not seen this question posted as it relates to the digital EQ's and compressors we use while mixing.

Personally I just go 24/44.1 and figure if I can't get it to sound good, it's the fault of me/the mic choice or placement/bad singing, iffy guitar playing, the colour of my socks, etc. But I thought it would be an interesting question to have answered by those in the know.

Cheers
Keith
