Question About Bit Depth Before Mastering
This is just something I've noticed and wanted to ask about it as I'm about to get my tracks mastered elsewhere.

Enjoy,
This is one of those, "I heard somewhere that..."
In my case, the guy was talking about plugins, specifically compressors, and he said that digital plugins give better results if one is feeding through material of a higher bit depth. Anybody know if this is true?
Sorry if this has been discussed.
Just curious. What bit depth/SR and why?I just Read the interview in TapeOp (Marc Aubort, nice article!) and it got me thinking..He still records at 16 bit. Ethan Winer does too, if I recall correctly.
I wonder if there are any bit depth experts that can help me understand whats going on. I am a hobbyist and archive my jams for ideas. Sometimes I strike on a jam that I want to polish. I'm not making any albums or professional demos.
