I can buy this used, but I'm wondering if it will work well with Logic Pro 9 on Snow Leopard? I will use quite some effects and (of course) many tracks on my songs)

Be aware that compared to the current Macs it would be a low end machine, also I completed my CD project on a lesser machine than the model your'e looking at.
I recently upgraded to a quad i7 MBP, cpu wise it compares well with the first 8 core Mac pros.
