Planning to buy:

1x RME Fireface
1x Behringer ADA8000
2x AKG C414 B-XLS
3x Sennheiser E604
1x AKG D112 OR 1x Electro-Voice RE-20

Already Own:

2x RODE NT5
1x Shure SM57
1x Shure SM58

The RME/Behringer combo could be switched out for upcoming Firestudio/Sapphire Pro + 8-channel pre-rack. But I'm more interested in the RME because it seems like something that could stick around for a while. The 414's are pretty much a solid part of the lineup. Everything else is arbitrary, just as long as it is in a similar price range... I also need to get cables and a portable rack.

The recording I plan to be doing is classical on-location, drum-set and all the rest of the normal pop instruments though not at the same time at this point. Also the rig needs to be portable, as I have a Projectmix now, which is great and all for the money, however it is a beast. So I also have to sell that. but that's not the point.

Thoughts, suggestions, rants? Any input greatly appreciated as I am quite in limbo.

looks ok to me

I don't have a Fireface but many do and if this is your choice then fine

the ADA is so cheap and useful
that the absolute quality is not a great issue
I have one and use it

The AKG414 is a little out of fashion these days but I have 414s and do use them occasionally. I used to use my first one ALL the time when it was the only thing I owned.
I still use one as a comparison to other mics when testing or looking for something specific.
A good industry standard that is relatively neutral.

E604 .... er I've forgotten what these are
... the square dynamic things ?
if they are ... good ... more inductry standard stuff.

AKG112
I don't have but others do
industry standard

RE-20
industry standard and perhaps more versitile than the 112
... I'm guessing your primary purpose for the above mics is Kick
I use M88 or ATM21
BUT I would use the RE-20 for other tasks

... get a cheap ATM21 and the RE-20

 ... but the 112 is cool ... get em all
... the more mics, the better the choices

I'm with Kev on the RE-20. Great on kick, bass amp, all sorts of brass, and very good "big voice" mic, to boot. The 112 is a "one-trick pony".
The Beyer M99 is another one like the RE20. Have and love both.
Also, the AT4047 makes a decent alternative to the 414, although the 4047 is a cardioid-only mic. Very smooth and versatile.

there ya go !

perhaps I should said that ?
but in it's defence it is an industry standard and people do swear by them

AT4047 ... smooth and versatile
yep

please when making Mic choices, DO try to get one home or in your studio and actually use it in a real session cos it's the only way you're gonna know for sure.
