Vista will work with Nuendo. I set up a dual boot system Vista/ XP and use XP for audio, it freed up resources and runs problem free, though I am using Cubase.
You really did not define what your computer specs were, so it is hard to really say I recommend this over that. There is as far as I can see no real benefit to using Vista over XP and like I said in the post XP uses a much lower amount of cpu and ram in order to operate, for me that meant more of my computer processing and memory ended up being available for Cubase. YMMV.
What is recommended even more than any individual OS is that you have a computer that is dedicated to audio. The more multi purpose a computer (or room) is then the less useful it becomes to any one purpose.
Vista SP1 will work. XP SP1 or SP3 will work. And in my testing, Win7 will work.
does pro tools LE work with vista home premium? 32 bit operating system with 2gb ram? the dont seem to want to commit to it on the digidesign site...
appreciate the help
Different versions of PT are quite finicky. My original PT LE (don't remember which version) won't load on XP so it definitely won't load on Vista. M-Powered should load on XP or Vista without issue. I have no doubt I could get any of the two previous versions of PT LE to load on a Vista machine but I would go with Digi's recommendations anyway so you can get manufacturer support.
Besides, Win 7 is imminently due and it will displace Vista nearly instantly.
