You know this software feels just like they say it is. One thing is we had drop outs with Audition 3.0 but with Reaper - none, more tracks too and on a less powerful machine. We have two HP Media PC's. The one that was running Audition I have 4GB AMD Quad core 2.2 GHz. Vista features disabled,Audition crashed once every couple of days or so. Reaper has yet to crash in 3 weeks of steady use.
No affiliation and still just using a demo license.

"For starters, REAPER is coded by a small group of dedicated engineers, not multiple software units under the central command of product marketing . That means REAPER is lean, efficient, and stable. REAPER starts up and is ready to record in seconds, balances processing loads intelligently across multicore systems, and doesn't fall over when you start to tax it. That means you spend more time recording and editing, instead of staring at the startup splash screen."
Yup, we know :) It is the Dark Horse of DAW's. I'm hoping they
