Well I've been using Sonar 4 PE for about a month now, and i recently installed a few plugins and now Sonar won't start. I get the SONAR splash screen and than nothing. The midi I/O activity icon appears in my clocktry, but no Sonar project window. I've done the 4.1 update but i didn't get the new update yet. I wouldn't think that i would HAVE to get an update in order for it to work. There's nothing wrong with the plugins (as far as i know) since I used the VST adapter that came with sonar. Anyone get this problem before or know how to correct it. I'd like to get Sonar to work without having to uninstall the plugins

Not that you won't find help here, but have you tried the Sonar forum at the Cakewalk website? It's been very useful for me. I'm using PE3.1.1, so I can't speak to your particular problem (I use it as a mixing platform anyway and I'm completely ignorant about MIDI). Sonar tech support has been great the couple of times I needed to call them also. I do seem to recall seeing some threads on the Sonar forum about a bug in the VST wrapper with Sonar 4. Good luck with it.

I found the solution!

It seems that problem starts when some other recording software is rewired with Cakewalk.
Just remove any Rewire device link related to Cakewalk.
I had Tascam Giga Studio rewired with Cakewalk Sonar 4.
Just go under settings in the Rewire device (in my case Giga Studio) and remove "Cakewalk Sonar" from Sequencer list.

The same problem can be related to some external dx or vst instrument.
I hope it helps.
