I have this old Behringer Edison-Stereo image enhancer that I've had a lot of fun with. I've used it a lot on Bg-vocals. I really like the way you can expand the stereo-image and be able to move the center from "front" to "rear" ( and vice versa).
Now I know that you'll say that all the Behringer stuff are crap... So my question is:
What other products can do things like that?
Hardware?
Or even better if I could find a great plugin .
I really love this toy... but if there are any better ones, I'd gladly try it... and buy it.

Forget the anti-behringer rants. If you like what that box does...then use it.

Thank you for the input. I haven't tried the Phase plug-in from the UltraFunk... I have to check it out.
I've worked a lot with Waves S1 in the studio, but it's not what I want... The Edison is so much "more" and can really create "far-out" effects.
I think that Waves S1 is just too gentle.
And you can't really move the center of the stereo image with S1.

I have to agree with the Recorder Man....
Any piece of gear that gives you what you want is what you should be using...... forget the manufacturers name - and forget their methods of doing business.......
It's all about the sound........ :c:

You might want to try the free MDA Image plugin found
Here
Its an MS matrix, but if you put it in LR-LR mode you can adjust stereo width and move the center around (M pan)
Hey its free, give it a try. They also have a Stereo Simulator plug that might do what you want. The Leslie sim is nice, the Tracker (eq mode my fave) and Dub Delay are fun as well

T.
Also try this if possible on yr set up.
On the stereo return of the track(s) you want widened. Use different EQ's on the Left and the Right sides.Or route the returns to seperate Left & right Mono .
This may help enhance the widening effect in a way you find pleasing

The Phase plug-in from the UltraFunk pack does what you want. It's now bundled with Sonar 3, which is great if you use Sonar, but not so great if you don't...
