I've been using some different combinations

Pacifica preamp thru nail compressor by a designs

Loving the punch,clarity and dimension.

Ua 710 and the hammer eq by a designs got a cool 70's vibe for sure. The hammer is very musical it allows for suttke and drastic changes without damaging the audio.

it's got some cool mojo. A lot of mood.

The 710 is not as clear but the track has some cool harmonic distortion and sits in the mix pretty well.

Any thoughts by some other members?

What have you guys been using .

I usually don't eq on the way in unless the eq is in the same unit as the preamp.
Any harsh vocal gets a treat with my LA 610.
I love my ISA preamps on drums and on electric guitars they are a perfect match for my ribbon mics.

I'm still experimenting with the UA 4-710. I'm not decided on what they do best yet ;)

I'd like to try the EM-EQ2

The most impressive EQ I've used, and still own is the NSEQ-4. Its by far the sweetest full thing I've ever used. it would be like a Hammer with no noise with a bottom end that is unmatched, top end that never gets spiky. Its super transparent but with a vibey silk to it. I use it in a MS matrix on a master bus.
And I love Pulse Techniques MEQ-5. MEQ-5, are killer for tracking and also Master bus. however, I sold a few and replaced what they did ITB on Sequoia. I am debating trying the 1A3's though.

Another EQ that us just loved but swapped it out for the NSEQ-4 was the Passeq. What a beast! Nothing touches the sub end of this one.

My favourite Comp is the STC-8 and most disappointing is the API 2500. Comps in Sequoia are my preference now.

The two essentials for tracking are LA2A's and 1176. Love em.

Favourite stereo/ overhead mic is an SF24. Love Royers. DPA are stellar for thruth, MA 300 are a better bet than U87. My personal favourite Female mic is a Soundelux 250. But, I love so many more, its too hard to think. I mean, an SM58, who doesn't love it?

Rode Classic II through an M-2b, is so sweet. But then again, everything sounds better through an M-2b.

and so it goes...
