Just got Three of these in to overhaul. Nicely built units.
The owner had the original service manual and he was kind enough to send me photos of. The schematics available from KT online do not show the front end daughter board configuration...these do...
It has an interesting front end, no difference amp or transformer...One of the three units has a toroidal line output transformer, the other two just have RC high pass filter like shown in the above schematic.
Online I found versions with an input transformer as well. Interesting.

Klark makes the only equipment I've ever had in any of my racks that designated Pin#2 on the XLR connectors as cold (-) and Pin#3 as hot (+).
OTARI tape decks?
the squiggly lines in the second image, L1 thru L26 ... are those inductors?

We used our Klarks on Main FOH and Monitor Mixes and found them to be smoother than most. Our thinking was, if it's good enough for Clair Brothers... I also have a BSS Opal series I like the sound of.
Was there anything else available at the time (1985-2005) that a mere mortal could afford that was head and shoulders above Klark in live PA applications? Were we missing out on something better at roughly the same price?
We used a couple of the Klark parametrics too, which don't really fit the narrowband filter category. But do they have idiosyncrasies of their own?

PA use only was my motto for narrowband filters.
What does phase response sound like if you're not mixing it with a version of the same signal with different phase?

The overhaul is a recap of the power supply caps, adding Jensen input and output xfrmrs and fixing the pin3 hot thing... make pin2 the hot.
I know there is a lot of debate on this topic but I believe you
I know there is a lot of debate on this topic but I believe you are correct for balanced gear as. Long as the input and output are the same polarity it doesn't matter....however this unit is interesting ....depending on the model some were unbalanced, some had input transformers. And we're balanced. The units I am working are different. Two have unbalanced inputs and outputs , and one has an unbalanced input and balanced transformer output....the owners wants them all to be balanced in and out with jensen xfmrs....
Where to Get Parts for Klark Teknik DN27A
I just obtained one of these--a mid 80s DN27A with the input and output balancing transformers, but it's got a broken power switch and a few broken faders, all the fader knobs are missing. Would anyone be able to point me to a source where I can buy replacement parts? I'm thinking besides those it'll need the electrolytics in the PSU replaced, too. Any additional advice would be greatly appreciated!
Power switch is easy
Where are you located? In North America Digikey will have the power switch…
for the faders those are harder…if I remember correctly the originals are no longer made. I did find a 10k Panasonic one that would fit. For the knobs I use a factory in China that can make almost any mould injection pot top
Really good customer service even for small orders.
I used Jensen transformers
by far my favourite, very transparent…. Not cheap, but very high quality.
I used both there line input and Lind output transformer for these guys,
Awaiting parts for repair/mods....
Thanks as always, Link! I just found your other thread in modifying a few DN27As for a client who sent you six to work on—wow! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. I’m away from my DN27 and forgot to check whilst I had it open the other day but do you happen to know if the 220v transformer has taps for 110v? If not, I’ll have to get something like a step down transformer.
@Link555 What exactly does an overhaul entail on one of those?

I have several very 'experienced' DN series EQs that as far as I can tell still work perfectly, but maybe they'd benefit from some new capacitors etc. They sure don't get used as much as they used to.
