Link555 What exactly does an overhaul entail on one of those?

I have several very 'experienced' DN series EQs that as far as I can tell still work perfectly, but maybe they'd benefit from some new capacitors etc. They sure don't get used as much as they used to.

Klark makes the only equipment I've ever had in any of my racks that designated Pin#2 on the XLR connectors as cold (-) and Pin#3 as hot (+).

You might have second thoughts about that if you looked at the phase response curve of the unit!

We used our Klarks on Main FOH and Monitor Mixes and found them to be smoother than most. Our thinking was, if it's good enough for Clair Brothers... I also have a BSS Opal series I like the sound of.

Was there anything else available at the time (1985-2005) that a mere mortal could afford that was head and shoulders above Klark in live PA applications? Were we missing out on something better at roughly the same price?

We used a couple of the Klark parametrics too, which don't really fit the narrowband filter category. But do they have idiosyncrasies of their own?

What does phase response sound like if you're not mixing it with a version of the same signal with different phase?

If you put pin 2 hot signal into the pin 3 hot device, doesn't the signal come out the other end with the same polarity as it went in? Isn't it really only where you have a mixed balanced/unbalanced device where it matters?

I just obtained one of these--a mid 80s DN27A with the input and output balancing transformers, but it's got a broken power switch and a few broken faders, all the fader knobs are missing. Would anyone be able to point me to a source where I can buy replacement parts? I'm thinking besides those it'll need the electrolytics in the PSU replaced, too. Any additional advice would be greatly appreciated! 

That would be great, thank you! I need two fader sliders, along with replacement fader knobs—all of them, and finally a power switch. Any leads you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Link would you also share which transformers you would recommend? I just received a DN27 and am studying the schematic. Like your client I’m looking to have both the input and outs balanced. Many thanks!

Thanks as always, Link! I just found your other thread in modifying a few DN27As for a client who sent you six to work on—wow! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. I’m away from my DN27 and forgot to check whilst I had it open the other day but do you happen to know if the 220v transformer has taps for 110v? If not, I’ll have to get something like a step down transformer.
