I'm partial to a Neve 33609 my self.

SSL G-Logic (now X-Logic) "Quad" compressor. Really. It's the sound of Rock. Right there. One unit. Put it across your 2-bus, get it squeezing between 6-12dB, and rock away!

yes sure I would love to have those and maybe more the neve than the ssl because they are way more flexible, problem.... they're over my budget.
the Vari muu is already expensive, so I was looking for compromises.
more over the gcomp ssl is a stereo compressor and I am looking for a dual channel/stereo.

the 9098 compressor is definitely a great piece...highly recommend it....couldn't find a price on one though

the Avalon 2044 isn't bad either.........lists for $3k on thier website......

wouldn't mind one of each in my rack :wink:
