Have decided to get a pair of Adam monitors after a long time of consideration. Just wanted to do a last check here to hear your experiences/opinions on them. I'm going for the S2A.

I don't like the Adam monitors.
I've thought alot bout what i don't like about them and it has come down to one point: I feel that it's wrong to make a speaker with a dynamic and a ribbon unit. If sounds like they don't play at the same speed and have the same dynamic range... it almost sound like putting a multiband compressor on the signal you are monitoring.

Rubish

I completely disagree with what you are saying! Have you actualy heard the ADAM's at all? Their dynamic range is as good or even better than many others in the market. I might be slightly off but I think that even the P11a's and the S1a's claim to have a dyn range of up to 150db which is prety damn good.

plus thanks to their ribbon design they can actually represent that unmistacable top end which has so much clarity compared to other monitors.

Just an opinion within an everlasting argument.

Cheers

Adams are fantastic monitors. More hits are being made on them than any other speaker out here in LA anyway.

As a mastering engineer, it's become almost a no-brainer that mixes brought to me done on Adams need about half the work of most other speakers.

Particularly problematic are Genelecs and Mackies, where mixes often need a ton of work, sometimes even a remix if it's in budget (which it never is these days).

Go get Adams and make my job easier.

a severe case of "flavour of the week" i would say....

another thing that pops into my mind is the tale about "the emperor's new clothes"

by the way.... HC Andersen would have been 200 years in the beginning of april....

when i was in Toronto , met online engineer from Sweden,

he visited canada and stopped by,

he had worked on gen's Adams and a few others in the same arena

he was all set to buy some Adams ...

after sitting in front of my ATC scm 20-2 pros for 2 hours, he decided that he liked these better and said could find himself listening to them longer..

ofcourse,
this is his opinion, and as i learned so far, it really comes down to how you hear them and if you like them

goodluck with your decision, i know it's tough with all the great monitors out there..

a bit like my friend who was about to buy a pair of expensive adam's..... he heard my speakers.... and according to him it tokk him about 30 seconds to decide to have a pair just like them... "they play music" he said.....

but he's from denmark..... and noone in denmark makes hits.... so noone in denmark has ears..... that's why they make things like tubetech/fairman/brüel+kjær/TC..... cause they have no clue!!

I'm not saying all people from Denmark have no ears, I'm saying YOU have no ears. :)

One idiot from nowhere who's done nothing is not as convincing to me as people who make major hits day after day.

Sorry if I was confusing to others, for he's right Denmark has a great tradition of audio gear makers, no doubt.

ATCs are wonderful too, no doubt. I'm not saying ADAMs are the be all/end all, that's for sure. Whatever works for you.

I'm just saying to trash them constantly like this guy does when so much of the world absolutely adores them just proves that he's an idiot, that's all.

ADAM makes great sounding monitors. I like them. They are not as night and day better than many other brands as lot of misinformed people think. It's pretty dam stupid to hail how great a monitor is and how well mixes done on them are better than another brand when there are so many uncontrolled variables to make a direct comparison unrealistic. Even more so when you have to realize that the room the speakers are in play as much of role as the speakers themselves.
