At the moment I'm stuck with nothing but a laptop for recording, and I'm trying to figure out the best solution for an audio interface.
I have a mixer, so preamps are of no concern. I typically only record 1 or 2 tracks at a time. I've never trusted USB, but am not opposed to trying it out. I have one firewire port, and a firewire hard drive, and am concerned about issues with daisy chaining that and an interface.
The last 4 or 5 years I've been using a Delta 44 card on a desktop system, which was perfect for what I need - 4 analog ins/outs to match my mixer, nothing fancy.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated
My laptop:
HP Pavilion ZT3000
1.8G Pentium M
1G RAM
Windows XP Professional
if you don't want to go into the upperlevel then the firewire 41
if you don't want to go into the upperlevel then the firewire 410 from m-audio, is a good choice...
