Thanks. Just another question - if I hook up the interface via USB to my computer, does that replace my sound card? I have read on other threads that the midi interface becomes the sound card. That would not be good, cause I need my line in of my sound card for the mixer and the speakers.

For purely midi interfacing (no audio) I would say that all midi interfaces are affordable. They should all be around $200.00 or less.
For inexpensive interfaces besides M-audio, check out Motu and Emu.
All midi interfaces are USB.
