Hey folks...I'm picking up some fan noise from my PC tower when I'm recording VO stuff. When I fire up Sound Forge 7 to start recording, the ambient noise never goes above -55db on the VU meter...

I've been gating everything below -55 with Sound Forge's Noise Gate, and then Normalizing to -6db when mastering the tracks, but I was wondering if there was a way I could point the mic at the computer and then drop the frequencies with an equalizer, or if I should just record into Cool Edit Pro and analyze the noise, then use the Noise Reduction function to get rid of it. And before anyone asks, I really can't move the mic's position relative to the tower.

Here's the equipment setup.
-Behringer B-2 Pro large diaphragm Mic
-Yamaha MG 10/2 Mixer
-A FMR RNC 1773 and Behringer Composer Pro XL chained via the I/O insert
-An Ensoniq DP/Pro on the mixer's Aux Send/Return for FX

I'm coming out of the mixer's Rec Out ports and into a Creative SB Audigy2 Platinum eX, and recording most stuff with Sound Forge, but can Cool Edit Pro if it ends up being the better choice.
