This decision would be based on SNR, internal computer noise isuues, A/D D/A converters (new 192's seem overkill and unproven), ins & outs, preamps , overall value/reliability, solid construction, and whatever else you all would care to add. Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Or how about one of those 8 channel mic pres with 48KHz AD converters, like the Alesis? My current interface accepts SPDIF and TOSLINK ins at 48KHz, and most people I know can't tell a 64bit .wma from a 96KHz wav file. (I can, and it bothers the hell out of me, but I am just saying...) As far as cost, nothing in my studio (except the franken-PC) has cost me over $500...so yes, I am hesitant.
