Behringer Xenyx 1202FX vs. . Behringer Eurorack UB1202

I'm planning on buying a little mixer to record some bass/guitar, but I don't want to pay too much and I have the choice for this 2 consoles for a really low price and I'm wondering which one is the best ?

I have look on the Behringer web site and both seems to have the same option on the console, just the Xenyx that have the effect option added, which I don't think I will need for what I want to do

Two questions:

1) Do you NEED a mixer?

2) What will you be sending the mixer to?

Okay more questions :p . Do you have an interface or are you planning to record this onto some sort of stand alone recorder?

If you're going to a standalone, you don't need a mixer as long as the recorder has an instrument input. If you're micing to the recorder, chances are it has at least one mic preamp.

If you're going into your computer, you NEED an interface and if you have an interface, chances are it has an instrument level input and at least one mic preamp.

What is an interface?

Sorry I don't know too much about recording and all this :P

I want to get this mixer because the drummer of my old band had one and we use it to record some song, and my bass song was really better then directly in my sound card of my pc

So exactly what I want to to do is to record guitar and bass and perhaps vocal if I find somebody

An interface is a device which takes analog signals (microphone inputs, guitar/keyboard inputs, etc.) and converts them into data which your computer can store and manipulate.

I would strongly recommend you look at http://www.sweetwater.com and look under their computer recording section and then under USB or Firewire recording devices. They have several options ranging from under $100 with some mic preamps and instrument inputs all the way up to kilo-buck all-in-one systems that actually do include mixing consoles, etc.

I strongly recommend any of the following:
Presonus
TC Electronic
MOTU
M-Audio

For bass recording, you'll want one with a Hi-Z instrument input.

For vocals, you'll want a mic preamp. This will be listed in the features and will be indicated in most cases by an XLR input (much like you see at the top of your Behringer).

Does this help a little?
