I used to have a pair of B&W 601 Series 3 until they were stolen form my house and i played some mixes back on them.
This is what i found:
- very smooth topend
- need a tonne of juice to get going. I was using a bryston 4bsst which that night of the robbery i took to a friends house to hear the current speakers i have now( Amphion argon2 which i later ended up buying off of him)
the bottom end is tight and weighty as long as the amp is good.
Use good speakerwire and the definition is amazing.
I later found a review on them used as a studio monitor. Check online
good luck

If flat is what you want, then British is the way to go. KEF and B&W speakers are known for their "flatness". I have a pair of KEF 104ab speakers. They are +/- 2db from 50-20K Hz and +/- 5 db from 35-35K Hz.
