What I want to do is use a MOTU 2408 with Cubase sx and a digi002 with Pro Tools le in a G5, but I have been warned by a salesman at my local music store that somehoe having multiple drivers in the same computer will cause a disaster. Can anyone tat knows about this stuff offer their opinion?

I don't know about the Macs, but on a PC, multiclient drivers are common, and multiple sound cards are not uncommon. I've got the drivers for 3 loaded in my laptop right now.
Honestly though, why not just pick one?

Well basicaly my busines partner bought the G5 and the digi002, but I still want to use cubase sx because that's what I was using before, plus I like it better than pro tools. Not to mention I have an Alesis HD 24 and would like to run 24 tracks from the computer out thru the HD24 and in to my analog console for mixing. There is no way to do that with the digi002.

In OS X, the MOTU and Cubase run through AMS (AudioMidiSetup) and PTLE communicates directly with the Digi002 right? If that's the case, then you have a chance
I'm still running 9 at the moment, so I can't help you much. but if you already have the goods, give it a try. Having multiple drivers won't hurt a lick, but using multiple drivers simultaneously is another ballgame.

If you have issues with all the drivers on the same boot volume you can always partition, and put a separate system on each volume. That should work as long as the presence of the different hardware itself doesn't cause problems.

I have a friend who uses Cubase SX and a 20bit Echo sound card along with a Digi001/ProTools LE setup. All on PC platform. He tends to lean more to using ProTools though. He's the kind of guy who likes to experiment a lot, which I can't blame him. On Windows machines it's no problem. My main testing machine runs three different audio interfaces and multiple programs with nary an issue. Under OS X, you should be able to do that, but as Mark said, that's all theoretical. You might as well try it...you can always remove it and make a new partition if something gets screwy.

Well actually I just read a post over at osxaudio.com today where the guy had MIDI problems because of the MIDI drivers for his 828mkII being installed, even though he never used it for MIDI.
There goes that driver theory of mine.
But you can still try. The worst case scenario is that you'll have to manually remove some files from your computer, but I'd be glad to give you a hand there if you need it.
