For years now I've been using a stand alone multi-track deck, a Fostex VF160 for all my recording, and before that, I had, (and still
do,) a Yamaha MD8. Both of these machines do a marvelous job of digital multi-track recording, but I've always been intrigued at the idea of using my computer to record. Evidently, most musicians do use their computer nowadays to record, but I was wondering, what is the most common software most people use to do multi-
track recording on their computer and the most reasonable priced?
Also, I've heard that you cannot do multi-track recording on your computer unless it already has the ability to do sound on sound recording. I've never modified my computer to have this feature and how and what software or hardware is required for this?
