digi002 and analog mixer?

hey, i was wondering if it would be possible to buy 4 channel analog mixer with direct outputs?

then I could plug mic's into the mixer and use it as preamps, then connect the direct outs for each channel to input 5-8 on the back of my 002 rack and mix the session in pro tools?

I love the Soundcraft M8 - great sounding mixer for reasonable money.

I really dig the Mackie Onyx series too!
