If you're interested in digital music technology, there's an event called DigitalLife in NYC in October that might interest you-- it seems like it's kinda in a similar vein to something like CES. You get a chance to see a bunch of new tech products early. Plus there will be workshops, speakers, and prize drawings for things like flatscreen T vs etc But there are specifically seminars on things like creating and manipulating digital music-- plus you get to see all the related music gadgets.

Also (and I don't think this is directly related, but it's kind of interesting) a bunch of Def Jam artists (Ludacris, Ghostface Killah, N.O.R.E., Joe Budden) are going to be at the event.
