Thanks all for helping create such a great forum. There's a ton of great info/people here. I have another opinion-based question.
What are your thoughts on these 2 consoles? I'm leaning toward the Yamaha. But, is it really worth the extra $2000? Are the pre's, converters, and DSP THAT much better? Also I've heard many bad things about Tascam's customer support/appreciation. Any real life experiences?

Yamha user here
Hi,
I have been working with Yamaha digital boards for 10 years.
They are very solid, stable, sound pretty fine.
I/O, flexibility addressing cue mixes make these boards a great choice.
Do you live in the USA?
I would look for an used 01V96 or 02R96 at ebay.
If you are on a budget , the 01V96 can have your job done. I do not have any idea of what is your daily tasks in the studio environment.
I have had very bad experience with Tascam gear and their infamous support, at least down here in Brazil.
