Freq. Analysis of Pro recordings

Hey guys - just hoping somebody can shed some light on this for me:

When running any "pro" recordings i have on my computer through a freq. analyzer, i notice that there's a sharp drop of ~70dB above ~15K. I've always wondered what caused this. Is it a result of MP3/WMP encoding? Noise/hiss-reduction? Some other processing done post-mix?

running anything other than straight aiff cd rip or better will not give accurate results. run some cd rips through it, their dropoffs wont be that bad.
