I would love some feedback from users of Giga Sampler or Giga Studio (I don’t know what the difference is). I am considering Giga Sampler in lieu of a hardware sampler mainly due to the fact it would be easier to record-edit-store on my PC. I would love to hear your praises / shortcomings with this line. I am mainly going to use drums / piano /strings /sound effects. Is the system considered multi timbral? I would also like to use it as a glorified General Midi sound bank.
There may be a better system such as Kontact. Any help would be appreciated.
My system is :
700mhz P3
320 meg ram
win 98se
Samplitude Pro 6.04 / Cakewalk pro9 / Sonor 1.3 / Sound Forge 5
Delta 1010

Well remember that Gigastudio will require a little more CPU than the normal audio application. So running both Giga and the audio app may bog your system down a bit. Since the samples are loaded into memory for the header than pulled off the drive to make it load faster.
So the audio app will be fighting for memory and the hard drive usage.
Most people tend to build a seperate system just for Giga.
I haven't messed with Kontact but I use SampleTank and it's great! Love the sounds just as much!
