On yeah, an acetate projector in 2001 ? Sorry but at that time I had a laptop and a projector at home... And look at the cover of the table...
At least it's a live situation, you can excuse a bit less quality.. ;)

Did you get the messed up information in the "In The Box" Mastering Tutorial with Pro Tools 9 and Waves Plug-ins'' in the OP ?¸
Go at 6:50 as he shows it doesn't understand how the pultec attenuation works.., LOL ! Man the boost and the attenuation are not on the same frequency.. I didn't listen to the whole video, just random check up for the quality of the video and BAM I found his misconsception of the classic EQ... :D

Seriously, If you are going to host Rupert Neve of all people, don't you think you would put a little effort into making sure whoever was manning the PA at least set the levels so the thing wasn't feeding back on him?

I do give some consolation to the fact that its a live recording, but no doubt they have the equipment and the basic knowledge of live recording to do better than this
It reminds me of the old saying my father use to say.....even the cobblers got holes in his shoes...

I was running a session for UK music technology examiners, the intention to play them submissions and then explain how the marks were produced and even out the marking standard so everyone marked the same. Some marking areas were:
Stereo field
noise and distortion
balance and blend.

We had around 60 people in a big room, and the exam board supplied a 10W per channel portable stereo. We were near Tottenham court rd in London, and went out and bought a big pair of speakers and a decent amp, plus a CD player. Even then, people not in the middle had no clue as to stereo. With all those videos above, audio quality varies from ok, not really an issue to pretty awful, but people would probably argue content, not quality is king - but I agree, it's a bit of a joke!

Even if some of the information is indeed mis-information...
Maybe the dude in the video does not want to let the cat out of the bag, or he is just a dill

You'd be surprised by how many people don't know how the Pultec works, pal. Also, quite a few who don't know that the attack and release adjustments on the 1176 are "backwards" from that of other compressors.

The internet can be a great knowledge base - but there's a whole lotta garbage out there, too. Just one example out of many: I can't count the number of people I've run into who have covered their studios from top to bottom with 1" auralex, all in an effort to tame bass frequencies.. lol.
