has anybody out there had trouble from time to time with their foot pedal not being totally secure? more specificaly, you attach your pedal. and when you tighten it so it's snug. the base creeps off the ground a bit.
i find this especially with the newer "solid steel" plate bases. i have a tama iron cobra that has the pivoting angle plate on the top but still will get this rocking thing depending on the gig and the carpet. nothing drives me more nuts than having my pedal slap a bit on the heal plate as i'm playing. any comments or suggestions?

i have my kick tilted, so the beater lies flush with the head. about an inch or two up off the floor. i've moved it around. for me to get the best power stroke: ie the beater doesn't go past center on the cam post. that's where i have to set it. i can still play well enough, but it's still a bitch when you pay $450 for a set of double pedals and you have that problem. in all the years of design and progress. for me, thats the one thing no pedal co. has really worked out. the cobras rip though. they are like a mercedes benze perfectly machine and balanced. only this one flaw. oh well..

I have an iron cobra and find the same thing- base off floor. I haven't been bugged as of yet but I am considering tilting my bass drum up off the floor to the angle that allows the foot plate to lie flat on the floor. Doc
